Singapore PR for IT and tech professionals
IT and tech professionals apply like any Employment Pass or S Pass holder: ICA doesn’t single out any occupation and publishes no salary threshold. Applicant reports suggest specialist roles such as AI fare better than generic IT roles, but the numbers are small.

Official information
- ICA says it takes into account “family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residency”, to assess the applicant’s ability to contribute, integrate, and commit to sinking roots in Singapore.
- Employment Pass and S Pass holders submit their own application through the ICA e-Service using Singpass. ICA does not list occupation or industry as a factor, and publishes no minimum salary, residence period or time on a pass.
- In October 2025, DPM Gan Kim Yong said PR numbers depend on “the number and quality of applications we receive, and our changing needs”, citing healthcare workers as an example. We found no official statement naming IT or tech roles.
- The Government has stated in Parliament that it does not reveal the detailed criteria for granting PR, and that each application is evaluated holistically.
- Your employer letter must state your occupation, start date, and basic and gross monthly salary, and be dated no more than 3 months before you apply. Payslips for the last 6 months are also required.
- The checklist’s Education section lists skill certificates and professional licences alongside degree certificates and transcripts.
- Self-employed founders and freelancers need their latest ACRA business registration certificate, and 3 years of balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements.

Community observations
Self-reported by applicants on public platforms. Not ICA policy; may not be representative.
- In the Facebook-group reports we collated, applicants in AI-related roles were approved in 4 of 5 cases, against 3 of 37 for other IT roles. Both groups are small, and these reports skew heavily towards rejections (164 of 206 first-hand decided cases).
- Approvals after a quick reapplication were reported to follow a material change, such as a promotion, a new child or a move into an AI role.
- Approved applicants commonly credit AI or business-facing roles, long tenure with one employer, and a local Master’s. These are beliefs, not tested factors.
- A high salary alone is not reported to secure approval. Public forums describe rejections at S$120k–500k+ a year, and approvals at S$2.9k–4.4k a month.
- Applying straight after a job or pass change is commonly associated with rejection in posts, though counter-examples exist. Members also report that if a pass is cancelled with no new pass issued, the linked PR application is cancelled too.
- One public case describes a move from a corporate job to founding a startup during processing, followed by a rejection.

Claims we could not verify
- “IT professionals are never approved.” No official source says this, and approvals of IT applicants appear in community reports.
- That AI, cybersecurity or other “priority sectors” carry a structural advantage. This is an agency claim. The Government has cited healthcare workers, but has not described other sector preferences.
